Built in 1835, as part of a planned late Regency terrace, De Grey House offers two well-appointed, light-filled meeting rooms with views over the Theatre Royal garden, York Art Gallery and King's Manor. Named after our founders, Dr John Bowes Morrell and his brother Cuthbert, we're close to parking and main bus routes and our adaptable, inter-connected rooms offer something a little different.
Our meeting rooms are located on the first floor and only accessible by stairs.

With its high ceilings, large windows and double aspect across the Theatre Royal garden, York Art Gallery and King's Manor, Bowes is a charming, airy and calm space. Home of the famous Newey Clock, you can view part of the internal mechanism within the room.

Bowes is connected to the smaller Cuthbert meeting room. The original heavy connecting doors ensure privacy, however, smaller Cuthbert makes a useful break-out room if required.
Our smaller meeting room, Cuthbert has high ceilings and large window with views over the Theatre Royal Garden. With the advantage of a small kitchenette, it's a charming, well equipped space for a small group.

Cuthbert is connected to the larger Bowes meeting room. The original heavy connecting doors ensure privacy, however, smaller Cuthbert makes a useful break-out room if required.
De Grey House has a large kitchen on the ground floor for self-service preparation of food and drink. There is also a small kitchenette in Cuthbert.
With a wide range of food outlets within minutes of De Grey House you're spoilt for choice, or you may wish us to arrange catering for you and your guests.
We use local York catering services that reliably offer tasty, fresh and highly desirable options! Please request a menu when submitting your enquiry. Please note there is a 5% admin fee on food orders for catering arrangements.

De Grey Rooms, attached to De Grey House, is also one of our buildings and is occupied by the congregation of St Michael Le Belfrey Church. They welcome enquiries for event and reception hire in the beautiful ballroom.
