On a very soggy day in March, our CEO Guy Bowyer, Administrator Lizzie Taylor and Buildings Manager Tony Leonard made the trip to Rosslyn Castle, just outside Edinburgh. They were invited by the architects Page \ Park, with whom we are putting together a conservation management plan in association with York Civic Trust to make improvements at Fairfax House in York.
The Castle is owned by the Rosslyn Chapel Trust and has been leased by to The Landmark Trust as a holiday let for over 20 years. The building now requires an extensive programme of renovation, repair and upgrades to services.
The Castle is the ancestral home of the St Clair family and the oldest section is the 'lantern' or 'lamp' tower built in around 1304.
Always keen to observe and learn from other conservation and renovation projects the team had a great day.
